What could be more perfect on a chilly fall morning than pumpkin spice hot chocolate? Pumpkin latte recipes abound on Pinterest right now, but what about the rest of us? The ones who don’t drink coffee?

What could be more perfect on a chilly fall morning than pumpkin spice hot chocolate? Pumpkin latte recipes abound on Pinterest right now, but what about the rest of us? The ones who don’t drink coffee?

We need our Fall flavors, too ya know!

The solution for that is easy, of course – make hot chocolate! I’d love to nosh on pumpkin spice chocolate fudge all the time, of course, but there’s something really soothing about sipping a hot, chocolatey drink on a cold fall day that fudge just can’t quite satisfy.

I went looking for a recipe but just could not find one made from scratch. While it’s nice to think that I always have a jar of homemade hot cocoa mix in my pantry, the reality is that it’s almost always empty. Funny how that happens.

So this recipe is for my kindred spirits, who love to make things completely from scratch. And why not? It’s as easy as stirring a few ingredients into hot milk, and then you have the benefit of knowing exactly what’s in that mug you’re drinking.

But how good is it?

No corn syrup solids (unless you want them there), no artificial flavors, and no preservatives. Is that not perfection?

Unfortunately, my kids agree that this mixture of pumpkin, warm Fall spices, and chocolate is perfection, and, alas, I can’t make a cup of this without making an entire pot. Well, I could, but that wouldn’t be very nice of me, would it? Score one for the dairy goats leaving us with an abundance of milk!
