Weekend Wrap-up

Having friends who will meet you down at the park for a picnic is the best thing ever!

When we moved to Texas, almost a year and a half ago now, I was pretty unhappy about leaving all of our friends and family behind. Especially since introverted little ol’ me isn’t very good at making new friends.

But God has blessed us greatly with friends, and especially with friends for the kids. Okay, friends for Garrett. Hadassah could still really care less about friends. 😛

Getting together at the park to let our kids get sweaty and dirty together and eat pulled pork sandwiches and tater chips is one of the highlights of life.

Favorite Tip

Make hash browns with your waffle iron. I poo-pooed this idea for a long time because getting the oil to stick evenly and get a crispy brown crust was hard. So maybe it’s not perfect, but they’re still good, it’s super easy, makes breakfast nearly mess-free, and a lot less greasy.

I love this idea!

Recipes and Meals We Enjoyed

These peppermint iced brownies are amazing! I can’t wait to post the recipe here on the blog. 😉

One of my favorite recipes ever is homemade gluten-free egg noodles. There’s not much you can’t do with them! So, I decided it was high time I updated the pictures and brought them up to date. Now they look as good as they taste!

 Movies/TV Shows we’re enjoying

In my experience, talking about movies and TV show preferences is the third best way to make enemies, right behind religion and politics, but I’m going to say it anyway.

The Flash

Is it cheesy? Yep. But it’s entertaining. One of the kids at church told my superhero obsessed four-year-old son Garrett about The Flash, so we looked it up on Netflix, and we’ve been watching an episode pretty much every day. There have been a few scary parts that we’ve needed to fast-forward through and a few crude mentions, but other than that, it’s fairly family-friendly. Sometimes, I wonder about my sanity, feeding that kid’s superhero thing. 😉

Octonauts

Octonauts has become the kids’ show of choice whenever I let them sit down with a movie in the afternoon so I can work. For the most part, I’ve felt like it was a little silly and probably not really worthwhile, but Garrett has surprised me with some of the things he’s learned about sea animals from it.
