Essential Oils

Essential oils have amazing health benefits, can be used in cooking and bath products and are just overall some of my favorite things. I use them every day and their uses seem to be never-ending! Let’s cover some of my favorites.

I definitely use essential oils to make my homemade goats milk soap, or other types of soap. I love to use lavender and peppermint, but you can really use whichever flavor you like the best.

One popular way to use essential oil is by diffusing. I love to use different scents in my diffuser depending on the time of year. I have specific scents for each season and even some holidays!

These oils can be used in cleaning, to help with allergies and to add intense or mild flavors in cooking and baking. Everyone has a favorite way to use these great oils, and a favorite scent. What are your favorite uses?

This homemade antibacterial cream is a must-have for every mom's first aid kit! Summer is on it’s way (and coming fast!), and you know what that means, right? Lots of playing outside, and lots of ouchies. In fact, if you live as far south as I do (which really isn’t that far), you’re already seeing Keep Reading

ginger tea for natural headache remedy

Headaches have been a bit of a plague for my family. My dad gets them a lot, as well as some of his siblings, my cousins, and a few of my own siblings. Fear of headaches is such an ingrained thing in me, that when I read that the FDA had strengthened its warnings that NSAIDs (that’s ibuprofen Keep Reading

Christmas prepping is in full swing here, but this has nothing to do with Christmas. In fact, unless you live in Texas, you might find this a little strange, but hang with me. We {finally!} moved out to the mobile home we’ve been renovating the week of Thanksgiving. We love it! The kids were Keep Reading

how to kick seasonal allergies

Hi all, Here in the south, seasonal allergies are in full swing, and to be honest, this was the time of year that used to make me think maybe mild winters and sweet tea weren’t worth it; let’s move up north. If I was being dramatic, I might say this was the time of year that nearly killed Keep Reading

Essential Oil Blends For Sleep

October 20, 2016 By Elise New 5 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

I think the most important factor in getting good sleep is getting the right amount of sleep. Personally, I’ve found about seven-and-a-half hours to be my sweet spot. Any more than that and I wake up multiple times during the night, and/or have a hard time falling asleep. Any less, and I need coffee Keep Reading

how to make peppermint cough drops

It’s that time of year again! Yup, along with all the pumpkin spice, and sweater weather, it’s… cold and flu season! I count my little family as generally pretty blessed in the area of health, but you can’t keep you kids away from all the germs, all the time, and last week, Garrett came down with a Keep Reading

Essential Oil Blends For Cleaning

August 4, 2016 By Elise New 5 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

There are pretty much three qualities you want in a cleaner, right? Remove dirt and/or stains kill germs Smell nice. Let me add a fourth to that: You want it to be non toxic - or even good for you if that’s possible. I think it is possible, and it’s not as hard as you might think. I spent Keep Reading

Ah, Spring, how I love you! the weather starts getting warm, we get a few thunderstorms - which I love! - the trees and grass turn green, flowers start blooming… and there’s pollen everywhere. That part, I don’t love. I doubt very many of us do. With that in mind, I have two main goals when I Keep Reading

Rainy Weekend Wrap-up

Weekend wrap-up

We’ve had such a beautiful rainy week this week.  I never realized how much a simple thing like rain could make me so happy. One of the side effects of growing up in Tennessee I suppose, but here in Texas, we don’t get rain very often, which makes falling asleep to the sound of rain on the roof Keep Reading
