Parenting

Parenting can come with its own set of challenges and rewards. Some of the choices when it comes to education and schooling, how to keep your children challenged, healthy and happy are often top concerns that can cause stress. However, being able to work with your children, communicate expectations and keep them accountable, you can not only have them happy at home but also while traveling through road trips and flights. Being a good mom is more than just spoiling your children, it is making sure they grow up with character and integrity. You can help your kids achieve this through disciple, responsibility and accountability. However, just because you are being firm with your children, it does not mean you have to deprive them of joy and happiness. Spending time with them and making sure you are there not just physically but emotionally and mentally there for them will be more rewarding than any fad toy. Parenting is difficult but it is worth the work.

what's in my cloth diaper bag

I know a lot of us cloth diaper at home, but feel like it’s too much work when we’re going out to bring cloth diapers, a wet bag for dirty diapers, and try to keep everything organized. It is much easier just to take disposables and throw them away after using them! After a while though, especially Keep Reading

July 1, 2014 By Elise New Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

You may have noticed that I dropped the ball on the whole monthly date post thing the last couple months. So what happened? Well, the answer to that is pretty easy actually. Gabriel started going out of town for work, two of my sisters and my dad decided to get married this summer, making us Keep Reading

A Boy, A Dog And A Frog Revisited

April 1, 2014 By Elise New Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

Quite a while ago, I wrote about some of Garrett’s favorite books, and why we liked them. As we’ve changed and grown over the last year or so, I felt like it was time to amend that list and tell y’all that those particular books are now off of our shelf - and why. Disclaimer: the following are my Keep Reading

Having Two Kids… It Ain’t That Bad

February 21, 2014 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

I thought parenting was going to be bad. I really did. Blame it on the “experienced” parents telling me I had no idea what I getting into. Or the frazzled moms who were at their wits end. Actually it was bad for a while. Any life changing event takes some getting used to. I went from having only Keep Reading

Baking Soda playdough recipe

Baking soda play dough is an allergy-friendly alternative to traditional recipes. No childhood is complete without play dough. I mean really, can you imagine? Over the last several months, Garrett’s imagination has really been budding, so I knew I had to find a good play dough recipe. He loves Keep Reading

Traveling With Kids

Traveling with kids can make you want to pull your hair out. Am I right? But for some of us (raises hand) holiday traveling is pretty much unavoidable.   This thanksgiving will be Baby H’s first serious road trip. Having both a baby and a toddler in the car for 14 hours should be Keep Reading

12 Tips For Getting Enough Sleep when You Have An Infant

October 9, 2013 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

One of the biggest stresses in having a new baby is lack of sleep. Seriously, how can you function without sleep? Of all the “bad” things people warn you about when you’re expecting your first child, this one concerned me most. Sleep is important to me. It can be difficult to get new babies on a Keep Reading

Baby Prep: The Spiritual Side

July 13, 2013 By Elise New Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

I didn’t do any freezer cooking this week (got some jam made though!). The farm and the gardening have just taken up too much time. Instead, I’ve been trying to focus my energy on preparing myself spiritually for birth. Several weeks ago, a friend and I were talking after church about childbirth. Keep Reading

Baby Prep – One More Week?

July 6, 2013 By Elise New Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

Oh, was I supposed to be prepping for baby? Oops, I forgot. Not really. But at the end of last week, I was so stressed, trying to get all these things done, like cleaning the house top to bottom so I could “relax once the baby came” and organizing everything, and getting meals in the freezer, and Keep Reading
