Parenting

Parenting can come with its own set of challenges and rewards. Some of the choices when it comes to education and schooling, how to keep your children challenged, healthy and happy are often top concerns that can cause stress. However, being able to work with your children, communicate expectations and keep them accountable, you can not only have them happy at home but also while traveling through road trips and flights. Being a good mom is more than just spoiling your children, it is making sure they grow up with character and integrity. You can help your kids achieve this through disciple, responsibility and accountability. However, just because you are being firm with your children, it does not mean you have to deprive them of joy and happiness. Spending time with them and making sure you are there not just physically but emotionally and mentally there for them will be more rewarding than any fad toy. Parenting is difficult but it is worth the work.

There are many, many benefits of living frugally. Whether it’s building a nest egg, saving up for something we want, or simply because it’s the only way to make end meet. But for me, there’s one reason that stands out above all the rest. My kids.  Y’all, this is something I’ve thought about a Keep Reading

3 steps I'm taking to be a better mom

Over the last several weeks, I’ve had this burning desire to become a better mom. Because y’all, I have a long way to go toward being a good mom. I don’t love doing crafts with the kids, I find explaining things to them frustrating, and their constant questions wear me out. It’s not that I don’t Keep Reading

February 19, 2016 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

I’m still kind of new to this whole parenting thing - after all, my oldest is only four (and yet, he’s already four - where did time go!), so naturally, I find myself devouring parenting advice like it’s going out of style.  I’ve read both pros and cons to paying your kids to do chores, here’s why Keep Reading

Why We Stopped Buying Toys For Our Kids

January 8, 2016 By Elise New 3 Comments This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

Have you ever walked down the toy aisle of your favorite store with your jaw dragging the floor over the prices you see? That’s me. Ever since having children, I have LOVED the toy aisle. It’s so fun to go see all the toys that you think your kids would love and imagine them playing with them. But Keep Reading

Why We Don’t Let Our Kids Listen To Music In Bed

Why we don't let our kids listen to music at bedtime

Parenting is surprisingly tough, and I don’t mean the 24/7 responsibility of the kids themselves so much as the social aspect. Everybody has an opinion on what the parents around them should do, and many of us are pretty vocal about it, even when we try not to be. It’s good to be able to discuss Keep Reading

How To Get Your Kids To Let You Work

Having kids helping with housework is a lot harder than I ever could have imagined it would be. Does it make me a bad person that I just can’t handle having their help all the time? I hope not. But the truth is, I’ve found that if I don’t intentionally pace them. Because the alternative is Keep Reading

DIY natural kids cleaning kit

Hi all! Today I'm sharing a post from Kathleen of Prompt Cleaners. This is such a great idea! I mean, what kids wouldn't love having their own cute cleaning kit?! Most of us do the cleaning while the kids are still in bed sleeping or before they get back from school. When the children get back Keep Reading

how to save money on homeschooling

I guess school has already started and the time for ordering curriculum this year is past. But since this year is my first year as a real homeschooler, wrapping my mind around all this curriculum stuff has taken some time, so I’m running a little late. Based on the recommendations of several Keep Reading

Peaceful Night-Weaning

Peaceful Night Weaning

Is there really a peaceful night-weaning solution? I believe so. We’re moving, and during this painfully slow process, we moved our bed. Unfortunately, we haven’t had the opportunity to sleep on that nice, large, queen-sized bed for a couple of months now, leaving us in a smaller, less Keep Reading
