Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice mix
  • 1½ cups sugar
  • 5 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2½ cups milk
  • 1 cup pumpkin purée
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Combine pumpkin pie spice, sugar, and cornstarch together in a sauce pan.
  2. Add milk and stir together. The spices probably won’t mix in well until the milk gets hot, but you should stir it until the cornstarch is well incorporated.
  3. Stir in pumpkin purée.
  4. Heat over medium heat, stirring, until thick and bubbling.
  5. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  6. Let cool
  7. Top with whipped topping if desired and enjoy!

  1. You can whisk the dry ingredients together, first and then add your milk and pumpkin. Makes it really smooth.

  2. This did not set. It was completely liquid after hours in the fridge. I tasted the liquid, and it was WAY TOO SWEET. Disappointed I wasted my ingredients.

    1. It sounds like some cornstarch was missing. It calls for 5 tablespoons. It is a bit too sweet so if you try it again you might want to use less sugar

  3. Hi, I wanted to let people know that you should scaled back on the sugar in this recipe if you don’t like things too sweet. Other than that, this recipe is delish!
