This homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe is a must have for any home baker during the holidays!

This homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe is the essential recipe for fall baking

I used to think making all my own spice mixes, and every single other thing from scratch made me a better homemaker.

Ha!

Saving time, money, and my sanity is actually what makes me a better homemaker.

But what does that have to do with homemade pumpkin pie spice?

Well, here’s the thing: Sometimes, the most convenient thing to do is pick up a bottle of already-made pumpkin pie spice – that’s saving your sanity.

And sometimes, it’s just as frugal.

And sometimes?

You’re in the middle of making Thanksgiving pies and suddenly, you realize you don’t have enough pumpkin pie spice left.

What do you do? Run all the way to town to get a new bottle? I think not.

That would cost you time money, and your sanity.

So you make your own.

People often ask me why the heck I would make sweetened condensed milk from powdered milk, and it’s the exactly the same reason – because it’s there when I need it.

It only takes a minute to mix up these spices.

And hey presto! You’re good to finish making those pies.

Not only that, but you get the added benefit of being able to adjust that spice mix ever so slightly to best please your own taste buds, and that’s a huge win.

This is my own favorite homemade pumpkin pie spice recipe, with a heavy cinnamon base, and a good dose of ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.

It makes the best instant pot pumpkin steel cut oats in the world, is perfect for Amish pumpkin butter, and don’t even get me started on my guilty pleasure of the season, gluten-free pumpkin crunch cake.

Make a big batch of this homemade pumpkin pie spice, and never run out!
