Weekend Wrap-up: Help For Postpartum Bladder control?

Here we are with another weekend wrap up – already! Where as last week I was working hard to clean and organize the house, The weather has been so beautiful this week that we’ve been spending a lot of time outside, and I almost didn’t get around to writing this! In fact, I’m hoping to get some lettuce planted later today.

My favorite tip

Use cypress oil to help support bladder control. Rub a drop of diluted cypress essential oil onto the child’s abdomen. I have one who’s restarted bed wetting recently, so we’re trying this. Also, I’ve seen this done on puppies, and it makes me wonder if it would help mommies who struggle with weakened postpartum bladders, or if that’s totally different because we’re dealing with muscles stretching rather than just immaturity? Something to consider anyway…

Re-condition a rusty cast iron skillet with a salt and a cut potato. This is a great tip! There is truly no such thing as ruined cast iron, and I have a big skillet I need to de-rust. Read more here.

Good Reads

Confession: I haven’t been doing much reading this week. Between school with the kids, playing outside with the kids (it’s been so nice outside!), I just haven’t made the time.

I did however attend a webinar on marketing – something I’m not good at – and learned a lot from that, and LOVED this article from Money Saving Mom on 4 Ways to Be a Great Friend (something else I’m not great at).

I’m also pretty stoked to be part of the Unstuffed launch team, and should be getting my review copy of the book soon. I’m a big fan of decluttering and organizing, and I can’t wait to read it! You can read about Unstuffed here.

Exciting News

Maybe I get excited about things a little too easy, but truly, it is the little things in life that make all the difference.

We started going to the gym – for free! A while back Gabriel found out that our local high school lets the town residence use the gym for free after (or before) school hours, and about a week ago we finally got signed up and started going! I am fortunate enough to have a barbell set at home, but having the array of weights and even a few machines available is a huge blessing, and I hope I can keep this new routine up.

This video is hilarious! I hope I have a sense of humor like that if I have the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, I couldn’t embed the video directly on this page, so you’ll have to click over to Facebook to watch it. (it will open in a new tab).

Favorite Meals and Recipes

I hate to say this, but I didn’t do very much cooking this week, and of what I did cook, not everything was a hit – specifically the baked tilapia recipes I’ve been experimenting with.

But, the kids and I did whip up one thing that was a major hit –

blueberry doughnuts gluten-free

Blueberry doughnuts with lemon glaze. Mmmm, perfect! My only complaint was that the wild blueberries I used (because they’re so small) weren’t very flavorful. Are all wild blueberries like that? I hope not!

But they were still pretty darn good, and the kids devoured them.

Overheard when the kids thought I wasn’t listening

“I’m sorry… you’re okay… Please don’t tell daddy!”

Sigh. That boy. Not that my siblings and I ever had similar conversations as children. 😉

Okay, so now that you know the highlights from our week, tell me yours! Just scroll down to the comments sections and type away!
