Weekend Wrap-Up: Pool Days

The rain comes, it stays, it WON’T GO AWAY, it floods.

And then it goes away, the temperature shoots up into the mid to high 90ºs, and the rain WON’T COME BACK.

Welcome to Texas.

Needless to say, the hot, dry weather has inspired us to get a pool. Well, a wading pool for the kids that is.

Pool set up take 2. I knew this thing would keep the kids busy, but I had no idea how much work would be involved for me. 😜

They love it! The first time we set it up, it was out in the side yard out in the sun – you know, where leaves from the trees wouldn’t fall into it.

And I was bummed because the kids didn’t really seem to use it much.

Then we emptied the pool out and moved it closer to the kitchen door into the shade, and that first day, the kids played in it for hours. Then they came in for a snack and played for several more hours.

They still play in it a least a few hours every day, and boy does it wear them out – but it also brings out their inner nudist, and I have to really watch them or next thing I know they’ll be out there skinny dipping.

Apparently wet swimming suits aren’t comfortable. Goof balls.

Favorite Tip Of The Week

Cut watermelon into sticks so your kids can eat them without getting messy.

Quotable Kids

I was explaining to Garrett that I wasn’t going to cuddle with him at bedtime because my head felt like it might explode if I laid down and we had the following exchange:

Garrett: “But why does your head hurt?”

Me: “I don’t know, I guess my sinuses are inflamed.”

Garrett: “Hmmm, have you tried putting lavender on it?”

Me: “No….”

Garrett: “Well, I think lavender might help.”

Me: “Good idea, I’ll try it,”

Garrett: “Is it your head, or you neck”

Me: “Oh, it’s my head”

Garrett: “Well, if you rub lavender on your neck, will it get to your head?”

Ah, this kid cracks me up, and he already knows that lavender oil is everything! LOL

Have a GREAT weekend!

Blessings, Elise
