Weekend Wrap-up: Ducks and Eggs

I have exciting news! The egg ban has been lifted!

I know you’re probably wondering what in the world I’m talking about, but I like to keep things mysterious…

Just kidding! Here’s the deal: If you read my recipes, you probably that we’ve been working around my husband’s egg allergy in most of our baking and that, more recently, we took eggs out of Garrett’s diet in an effort to see what food was causing his problems (we think it’s dairy at this point).

But now, all is well because Gabe’s flock of ducks has finally started earning their keep in the form of egg-laying. Woot!

Today alone, we’ve celebrated by making banana bread and zucchini muffins. A few nights ago we made popover pizza, now I’m even making Mayonnaise again!

Life is good. I mean, it always was, but this makes it even better.

Favorite Tip of The Week

Get a swimming pool – just a little one – for your kids. You won’t regret it. Trust me.

Books I’m Reading

I’m trying really hard to find time to read more, and it helps if I download Kindle books to my phone so I can read anywhere any time.

I just finished The Wild Diet, which I highly recommend to anyone who’s interested in improving their food lifestyle. Of course, the author’s worldview stems from a Darwinian viewpoint, but in spite of that, it’s solid information.

I’m also slowly making my way through Daring Greatly by Brené Brown. I’m not that far into it, but it’s been eye-opening, and I’m looking forward to finishing it – unfortunately, it’s one of those pesky paperbacks, and not as convenient as my phone. 😉

You’ll understand when you see this pic:

Image shows a family of four seated in front of a brick wall. They are dressed up, wearing suits and dresses. The young children sit on the laps of the mom and dad.

Granted, it’s a two-year-old picture, but you get the point. 😉

Happy Weekend!
