Tropical Green Smoothie Pops

If you struggle to get your kids to eat their greens, you are going to love this tropical green smoothie pops recipe!

Or, if you like the taste of tropical fruit.

One of the things that surprised me most when I started drinking green smoothies was that the smoothies didn’t taste “good for something with so much spinach in it”, they just plain tasted good!

All those years of resisting green smoothies because they looked gross? Wasted.

I tend to be a creature of habit, so during my first 30-day green smoothie challenge, I quickly settled on a recipe that I really, really loved, and used that as my base from there on out for the most part.

My kids love those green smoothies too, which is lucky for me, because they don’t care for kale in any other form – not even kale chips, which is one of my favorite snacks.

But even more than smoothies, they love popsicles! As I mentioned a few weeks ago in the Berry Parfait Popsicles recipe, I like to take fairly normal snacks and turn those into frozen treats for them, that way we can have nearly unlimited healthy popsicle treats all summer long with zero guilt.

The fun thing about smoothies is that they’re SO easily customizable. I like to rotate the greens we use from week to week, so while I made the green popsicles last week with kale, I might use spinach or collard greens next week.

And while pineapple is MY ideal fruit for tropical smoothies, maybe mango is yours.

Don’t have coconut water? Just use water.

Also, a teaspoon of extra virgin coconut oil, adds yummy tropical flavor, and lots of health benefits.

The only thing my kids don’t like about popsicles is that they’re not allowed to eat them in the living room. I don’t know where they got the idea that popsicles should be eaten indoors at all – I mean, come on guys, if you’re not sitting outside int he blazing sun, eating your popsicle as fast as you can before it melts, you’re doing it wrong. 😉

  1. These look fantastic, but we are not really into bananas much over here. What would you suggest we substitute them with?

Thank you for all of your wonderful recipes!

    1. Anything that suites your fancy really. Bananas help make them sweeter and more creamy, so maybe another sweet fruit and some avocado or nut butter?

  2. Can’t wait to give this recipe a try! Where did you get your popsicle tray? I love that the sticks you used in the video are not plastic and could be disposed of if you’re sharing with a larger crowd.
