Six Things We Loved In August – Plus Thoughts On 9/11

Hi all! I know I usually post this kind of thing on a Friday, but it didn’t seem appropriate for the anniversary of 9/11. A lot of water may have passed under the bridge during the last fourteen years, but most of us will always remember, just like it was yesterday, and our eyes will still well with tears when we think about the families who lost their dear ones, and the brave brave men and women who lost their lives in the heroic effort of saving complete strangers.

Flight 93, Firefighters, Policemen, ordinary men and women.

We’ll never forget.

And we’ll never stop asking ourselves, “if I was there, would I have been a hero?” While praying that we never have to find out.

With that in mind, here are five of our favorite things from the last month. Some of them related to the tragedy of 9/11/01, some of them not.

The Budweiser Clydesdales

Yes, I just outed myself. No, I don’t drink. In my mind, beer is only good for one thing – beer bread. But I could sit and watch Budweiser commercials all day long. I’ve even watched documentaries about the Budweiser Clydesdales, because those horses are so talented! Their tribute to 9/11 brings me to tears every time I see it. I know, it’s all about the musical score, but still! It’s touching, and it’s respectful. It’s perfect.

Vitamin C Gummies

6 Things We Loved In August: Vitamin C Gummies

I found this recipe on Pinterest quite a while ago, and finally got around to modifying it so that I wasn’t adding any extra sweetener. Just juice + gelatin + vitamin C. It’s awesome! No sugar, and no artificial coloring. Booyah!

Strong Curves Strength Training Program

6 Things We Loved In August: Strong Curves!

Okay, it’s actually a love-hate relationship. I’m on the fourth week of the first phase of the advanced program (I just wanted to spit all those numbers out to confuse you), and I’m looking forward to changing it up with the second phase next week.

I love that Strong Curves is a great full body workout, it makes me work hard, and lift a lot. But I don’t particularly care for high rep sets – especially of hip thrusts and gluten bridges. Not my thing, but that’s okay – I’m going to keep sticking with it at least until I finish the entire twelve week program.

Water Flutes

6 Things We Loved In August: Water Flutes!

Gabriel’s mother got a set of water flutes for Haddassah’s birthday, and both of the kids think it’s the best thing ever. Noisy toys. Gets ‘em every time. I tried to show them how to fill the flutes up to different levels to make different notes, but they don’t care about that – they just put a little water in and blow at the top of their lungs.

Needless to say, they’re not my favorite thing ever, but since they’ve been restricted to bath time only, I don’t actually mind the noise – I just leave go into another room and wait for them to holler that they’re ready to get washed and out of the tub. 😉

Flip Or Flop

We found this show on Netflix a few weeks ago, and we’re kind of hooked. Gabriel and I have a strong interest in real estate, so while the show doesn’t give a lot of detailed information, and who knows how realistic it is, it’s still intriguing to watch – and those transformations – wow! I have no idea how they see past the ugliness that’s already there, but it’s amazing!

The Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle

You may have seen this a few days ago, but I wrote an entire post dedicated to the Ultimate Healthy Living Bundle. It’s as whole bunch of books on everything from healthy eating, to healthy skincare, to fitness, and lots of other things, bundled together in digital form for a super duper low price. Like, three books would cost more to purchase by themselves than buying the entire bundle. It’s crazy, and it’s only available for a few days, so if you’re interested, check it out here.

Now that we covered some of the things we’re loving right now, it’s your turn: What are your favorite things right now?
