For the Crust:
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
Pinch of salt
For the Filling:
2 large eggs
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350º
Combine flour, granulated sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl
Pour in butter, and mix well. The mixture will be somewhat crumbly
Press crust mixture into a parchment-lined or greased 8×8 inch baking pan
Bake crust in center of oven for 10 minutes, until lightly browned
While crust is baking, whisk eggs, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl until eggs are completely broken up
Add 2 tablespoons of melted butter, and whisk until butter is fully incorporated
Stir in chopped pecans
Pour into baked crust, and sprinkle with chocolate chips, and place back in oven for 25 minutes, until pecans are beginning to brown, and filling is no longer jiggly
