Cheese Sausage and Grits Breakfast Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bulk sausage
  • 1 cup dry grits
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese + 1/4 cup for garnish
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika powder
  • parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º
  2. Brown and crumble sausage.
  3. Combine grits, water, and salt in saucepan.
  4. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture is thick and bubbly.
  5. Add sausage, butter, and cheese to grits and stir well.
  6. Pour mixture into a buttered 8×8 pan.
  7. Sprinkle with additional cheese, paprika, and parsley.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven and let rest 10-15 minutes before serving.
