Family

If you’ve spent anytime on my blog, you know that my family is my number one concern pretty much all of the time. Well, making sure that my husband and my kids and I can all have the best quality of life possible. That doesn’t mean we have everything we want all of the time, but we definitely get what we need, and we try not to take anything for granted.

I homeschool our children, so this is a great place to come for tips on homeschooling. I share deals I find on textbooks, Christian-based curriculums that work well, and tips for getting your kids to sit still and listen.

Another important thing for me is to try and fill each day with the activities we love to do together. We spend time outdoors on the farm, we take inexpensive trips together (check out my travel tips for busy moms) and we even renovated our old mobile home with the help of our kids.

In an effort to eat healthy as a family, we even did the Whole30 diet together. Check out my plans, meals and what worked and what didn’t.

Random Ramblings on Cloth Diapering

I’ve been cloth diapering now for… 18 months? The first several months weren’t anything like exclusive, partly because it took a while to get in the groove of washing the diapers before we ran out. There are times now and then that I use paper, For instance, when we go on a long-ish trip, yet not Keep Reading

Project Fit Pregnancy: 15 Weeks

If you haven’t already noticed, I’m sure you will soon, that my workouts are really heavy on lifting (no pun intended), and light on cardio. While I do love cardio, there’s a lot more to fitness than just cardio. Unfortunately, there’s a myth among women that lifting heavy stuff will cause us to Keep Reading

Project Fit Pregnancy: Week 14

January 15, 2013 By Elise New Leave a Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

There’s this sad philosophy being perpetuated by our narcissistic culture that the “best you” is the one who looks like a super model. Do you want to become a better person? Get fit! Flat stomach, slender thighs, no jiggles under the arms - those are the things that make you a great person. There Keep Reading

Fit And Healthy Pregnancy

January 8, 2013 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

I haven’t really talked about fitness much on this blog. Maybe mentioned running a time or two, but that’s all. As of today, that’s going to change. Gabriel and I are kind of fitness nuts. Not major fitness obsessed protein-powder-and-supplements nut, but just mildly nuts. We enjoy working Keep Reading

A New Addition – human this time

2013 is going to be a big year for our family in so many ways. But the one that trumps them all is, oh yes, a new baby! We’re going to find out what life with two kids is like. Garrett’s going to find out what it’s like to be a big brother. I’m going to find out what a second labor and Keep Reading

Homemade Baby food

June 27, 2012 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

Every time I walk past the baby food isle in the grocery store I find myself wondering: do people really feed their babies that? I mean on a regular basis. There are circumstances where I can definitely see buying jarred baby food - like on a long car trip or something. It’d just be easier. But Keep Reading

Cloth Diapering; A lightbulb Moment

February 15, 2012 By Elise New 1 Comment This post may contain affiliate links. Please read my disclosure policy for more info.

A friend and I were talking about cloth diapering at church a few days ago. She was pretty excited about the Fuzzibunz she’d just purchased from ebay. I use mainly Smari Pants,  which are much the same. Both are pocket diapers, both snap down to multiple sizes, both are incredible at wicking Keep Reading
