How To Naturally Cure Sunburn

Summer is coming up quickly, and that means that the weather is going to be climbing in temperature.
Nothing is worse than being out in that boiling hot sun and coming home with a sunburn. If my time in Florida last month taught me anything, it’s that you never truly know how just how burned you got until you get home and the pain starts to settle in. Boy, do I wish I’d taken my homemade sun lotion with me!

If you don’t care for your sunburn, it can be extremely painful to even move, and instead of turning into a beautiful tan, it may start to peel and get all gross.
My favorite way to care for sunburn is homemade sunburn relief spray – it’s so soothing! But today, I wanted to share a few other simple steps to naturally cure your sunburn using simple products that you probably already have in your home.

Step 1: Apple Cider Vinegar
To start curing your sunburn, take a warm damp cloth and dab on a bit of organic Apple Cider Vinegar. The apple cider vinegar, in combination with the warmth of the towel, will help to instantly relieve the pain from your burn. It will still be red, but at least you won’t be in total pain every time you move any part of your body.
Step 2: Coconut Oil
Because of the acidity of the vinegar, your skin will be very dry from applying this to your skin. You will want to moisturize with something, but instead of using your basic lotion, I highly recommend coconut oil. Not only does coconut oil keep you extremely moisturized, but it also helps to prevent the skin from peeling and repair any skin damage that you may have gotten from the sun.
Step 3: Reapply
You will want to continue this process every day up to two times per day until you feel absolutely no pain from your sunburn and it is fully repaired. If you just do this once, it is possible that the burning sensation from the sunburn will come back.
Step 4: Prepare for Next Time
So that you are not burned again, you will want to prepare your skin for the next time you are exposed to the sun. Sun care is so important, be sure to prep your skin with sun lotion, and reapply it throughout the day to really protect your skin from the harsh rays of the sun.
If you, unfortunately, get caught in the sun for too long and have to suffer from sunburn, take these tips and procedures into account to heal up that sunburn quickly. You will be feeling better in no time, trust me!
P.S. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! Unfortunately, conventional sunscreens are made with more questionable ingredients than I’m comfortable with. But that’s okay! Because home-made sun lotion works beautifully, and it’s good for your skin! You can click the picture below to find the recipe.
