How to kick Seasonal Allergies – just by breathing

Hi all,

Here in the south, seasonal allergies are in full swing, and to be honest, this was the time of year that used to make me think maybe mild winters and sweet tea weren’t worth it; let’s move up north.

If I was being dramatic, I might say this was the time of year that nearly killed me.

But I’m never dramatic. *cough*

Of course, for all I know, seasonal allergies are just as bad in Montana as they are here.

But now I’m rambling. Okay, back on track.

In light of all the pollen floating around lately, and because the Herbs and Essential Oils SuperBundle is on sale this week (more about that below), I wanted to share how you can kick your allergies to the curb just by changing the way you breathe. And then, I’m going to share with you my own sordid seasonal allergy story.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 3 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 3 drops lemon essential oil
  • 3 drops lavender essential oil

Optional:

  • Roman chamomile, tea tree, or eucalyptus essential oil.

Instructions:

  1. Drop the oils directly into your diffuser, fill it with water, and diffuse them throughout your whole house.
  2. Or, if you don’t have a diffuser, drop the oils on a cotton ball glued to a clothespin, and pin it to your a/c register or fan. (this works great in the car too!)

Now just breathe it in.

I remember about two years ago when I first discovered this blend via some amazing natural remedy enthusiast friends and was stunned that something so simple could be so effective.

  • Lavender works as an antihistamine.
  • Peppermint helps open up the sinus and respiratory passages.
  • Lemon supports lymphatic system drainage and helps overcome respiratory conditions as well.

This amazing diffuser blend helps provide immediate relief from seasonal allergies by supporting your body’s fight against them.

But here’s the thing; kicking seasonal allergies IS all about supporting your body! So, what you eat matters, exercise matters, and what you put on your skin matters.

Allergies have plagued me all my life, and sometimes, I admit they still get me down occasionally. But since we’ve been learning to support our bodies by eating well, kicking chemicals out of the house, and staying fit (i.e. moving my body to support lymphatic system drainage), my life has completely changed.

When we first moved to Texas a little over two years ago, I spent most the month having killer headaches from the juniper pollen, and then it was touch and go for months afterward.

I can’t even tell you how depressed I was about having to live in an area that not only was so far away from my family but that caused me so much physical agony.

But here we are, two years later, and I haven’t touched an Ibuprofen bottle since I don’t even know when.

I credit this simple essential oil blend AND living a healthier lifestyle to it.

Here’s to a healthy spring!

  1. How much water? My diffuser only holds 100 ML of water. So should I cut the drops down to maybe 2 drops each instead of 3?
